W E L C O M E
I am a glass artist who has been working in cast glass for 12 years, sharing a fabulous studio in West Auckland, New Zealand on the edge of the Whau river. Previously I have worked as an architectural designer, graphic designer and art director.
I make sculptural forms, working with the depths and translucency of the glass by using twists, turns and sweeps of curve and shift from thick to thin to create a sense of lightness and rhythm, creating tension within the work, to bring a sense of frozen action – a movement frozen in time.
I aim to convey in the finished form, some of the process of working in lost wax casting - the form is first made using wax sheets, and while these strips are still warm they are curved and twisted, giving a sense of spontaneity.
We are lucky enough to have Gaffer Glass manufacturing right here in Auckland with easy access to a truly wonderful casting glass.
I am continually updating and refining this website so please keep in touch.
